Adobe is launching new generative AI tools that can automate labor-intensive production tasks like editing large batches of images and translating video presentations.

One of the most notable additions is Firefly Bulk Create, an app that allows users to quickly resize up to 10,000 images or replace all of their backgrounds in a single click. This eliminates the tedious process of editing each picture individually, significantly boosting efficiency.

The tool was created by combining several of Adobe’s Firefly-powered APIs for developers, with the aim of making them more accessible to creatives who lack technical coding experience. Bulk Create is launching in beta today and is split into two separate tools on Adobe’s Firefly web app: “Remove Background” and “Resize.”

The "Remove Background" tool, as the name suggests, allows users to upload image files from their computer, Dropbox, or Adobe Experience Manager and quickly remove their backgrounds. This feature is particularly useful for product marketers, as it enables them to easily create variations of each image by replacing the background with a specific image or color.

The "Resize" tool offers preset options for popular ad banner sizes and platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. It utilizes generative AI to stretch the backgrounds of images to fit these required dimensions. While the initial demo showed some limitations, such as obvious warping in certain cases, it has the potential to significantly streamline the process of resizing marketing assets for various platforms.

Beyond image editing, Adobe is also introducing new developer APIs for Firefly Services to accelerate video and print production workflows.

The "Dubbing and Lip Sync" feature can translate and edit lip movement for video audio into 14 different languages, making it easier to reach a global audience.

Additionally, a new InDesign tool can automatically format text and images for print and digital media using predefined templates, ensuring consistency and professionalism across all platforms.

"Digital avatars" created using text descriptions and voice recordings will also be available in beta this month. These avatars can be used to present videos, explain products, and enhance the overall engagement of your content.

The power required to edit batches of 10,000 images is significant. Therefore, Adobe has implemented a usage-based fee for these new tools. Users will need to subscribe to a premium Adobe Firefly plan that provides generative credits, which can then be "spent" on the various features.
